A boat ride on the Ganga is safe and easy when you know the basics — life jackets, fixed prices and a few local rules.
Travel Guide
1 / 4
Thousands of people take boat rides on the Ganga every day. Following a few simple safety habits — and agreeing the price before you board — makes the experience stress-free.
Safety on the Water
Wear the life jacket for the whole ride, especially children and non-swimmers.
Stay seated while the boat is moving and don't lean over the side for photos.
Board and step off slowly — ghat steps can be wet and slippery.
Don't overload: our Normal and Light Motor Boats carry a maximum of 20 persons.
Boats are suspended by the administration when the river floods — never insist on a ride in high water.
Avoid Overcharging
Agree the full price, route and duration before boarding.
Ask whether the price is per person or per boat — ours is per boat.
Check what's included: route (50 or 84 ghats), Aarti, extra persons.
Book with a confirmed quote on WhatsApp so there are no surprises.
Respect Local Customs
Don't photograph cremations at Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghat.
Dress modestly and keep your voice down near the cremation ghats.
Avoid throwing plastic into the river — offer diyas and flowers only.
